MPB Title: Senior Producer of Television

Salary: $43,509.31 - $50,000.00

Mississippi Public Broadcasting Television Department is seeking an experienced,

Senior Television Producer to produce broadcast television, web, and professional video

content as assigned, from concept to completion.  This position will oversee or conduct

research, planning and execution of productions for the agency.   Must have the ability

to schedule, manage pre-production planning and post-production efficiently.  The ideal

candidate will be able to supervise production crews and project teams; hire contract

personnel as needed and conduct contract negotiations.  Proficient scriptwriting skills is

preferred with professional storytelling skills that are appropriate for public television. 

Budget creation and management is required.  

Supervisory position is accountable for producing, directing, writing, and editing all

aspects of Broadcasting and Multimedia programs and series. Employee supervision

includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and

performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level

also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the

work overseen.

 Plans projects in advance and in detail to meet deadlines. 

 Assigns appropriate personnel to projects.

 Schedules equipment and shoots as needed to meet deadlines.

 Recommends staffing for agency projects to promote efficiency of project as well

as to promote career development of personnel. 

 Seeks out and/or develops production projects in accordance with agency

priorities.  

 Able to solve issues/problems without supervisory intervention unless necessary.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 3-6 years of experience.
