Multimedia Journalist
Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) - WTVA,
Tupelo
Are you a visual storyteller who isn't afraid to get your hands dirty to tell amazing stories? We’re
looking for a high-energy, creative and focused Multimedia Journalist to join our team at
WTVA in beautiful Northeast Mississippi. This isn't just a job in the heart of SEC country—it’s a
chance to own your stories from concept to click, reaching our audience on air, online, and
across every social platform. If you’re a self-starter who thrives on building sources and telling
stories that actually make a difference, we want to talk to you.
What You'll Do
Own the story: Pitch, shoot, write, and edit compelling content daily for broadcast and
digital platforms.
Report where it happens: Go live from the field, delivering urgent and authentic
coverage right from the heart of the story.
Lead with digital: Think "digital-first" by breaking news on our app and social media
before the cameras even start rolling.
Build your beat: Develop deep community contacts and sources to uncover the stories
no one else is telling.
Connect with Northeast Mississippi: Engage with our audience where they
are—whether that’s on our digital and streaming platforms, social media (Facebook,
Instagram, etc.), or face-to-face in the community.
Collaborate for impact: Work tightly with our newsroom team to ensure our coverage is
fast, fair, and meaningful.
Drive the conversation: Use your social media savvy to spark engagement and keep our
viewers informed in real-time.
What You Bring
The Credentials: A four-year degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
Storytelling Chops: Excellent writing and communication skills with a knack for
conversational, impactful scripts.
Technical Agility: Comfort operating multimedia equipment and non-linear editing
software (we’ll coach you, but you’ve got to be ready to learn!).
A "Team-First" Attitude: You’re a great newsroom citizen who values collaboration
over ego.
Coachability: You have a thick skin and a growth mindset—you welcome constructive
criticism and use it to level up.
Urgency and Grit: You aren't afraid to work hard, meet tight deadlines, and do what it
takes to get the story right.
Digital Fluency: You live and breathe social media and understand how to tailor content
for different platforms.
Why You'll Love It Here
The Location: Live in the heart of SEC country in beautiful Northeast Mississippi with
Ole Miss and Mississippi State in your backyard. If you're looking for big city vibes,
Memphis, Birmingham, and Nashville are all just a quick road trip away!
Real Impact: We don't just report the news; we tell stories that change lives and
strengthen our communities.
Growth Culture: We are a newsroom that values coaching and mentorship. You won't
just be a number; you'll be a partner in our success.
